Obliterate Page 7

“What’s wrong?” I was curious and a little worried now.

Darcy was a diplomat. I had my company, and he had this. He was good at being a mediator between two parties.

“When they returned to this realm, Shalia’s betrothed, the alpha wolf of Henry’s rival pack, found out they were back and threatened to kill Daniel. He wants to fight it out with him to the death. Even though Daniel doesn’t wish to be alpha. This rival wolf won’t rest until he gets what he wants. They need our protection.”

I nodded and sighed. We had a duty as King and Queen to protect our people and our allies. I knew our choice to live here in the human realm would become difficult if anyone needed our help.

“Okay. I’ll meet you at Henry’s.”

  “Okay. Please be careful.”

“I will. I’ll see you soon.”

I shut the lid of my laptop and grabbed my athame from the top drawer of my desk. Then I made my way to the nearest veil portal. When you were queen, there was never a dull moment.

  Acknowledgments

It isn’t easy writing a book. You not only have to string enough words together so they form a book, you have to make your characters appear three dimensional. They have to have emotions and backstories and hopes and fears just like we do. Obliterate, just like most of my books, was very cathartic to write. I went through one of the darknest times in my life during the writing of this book, so Emma’s story gave me the perfect platform to channel those emotions and turn them into art. As always, there are a few people I’d like to thank for getting me this far. Without them, I don’t know where I’d be.

Firstly, thank you to my writers’ group – the Story Queens of Aus – thank you for encouraging me when I had doubt and having my back. I’ve got yours too.

To the man who inspired Darcy; I’m not going to name you. But thank you for inspiring me and opening not only my heart, but Emma’s as well. Even though you drive me insane and frustrate me to no end, I am thankful to have you in my life.

To my beautiful PR lady, Amber. Thank you for helping me get my name out there and slotting me in at the last minute. I’m glad to have you on my side.

To Desiree, for another breathtaking cover. All hail the Confetti Queen!

To my parents, friends and work collegues at the State Theatre for being supportive and encouraging.

To my amazing editor, Rogena, sorry for being a demanding client. Thank you for all you do. You polish my words until they shine brightly. I’d be lost without you. Thank you for constantly teaching me how to be a better writer.

And last but not least, I’d like to thank my readers and fans—thank you for wanting more. The publishing world is harsh and hard sometimes. If it wasn’t for your support and love, I would have stopped sharing my words with the world long ago. It is you who keeps me going.
