The Nephilim Universe Read online

The angels were left wondering if any of it had ever happened. But it had. Gabe had lost his grandmother and gained his wings, all in one afternoon.

He suspected it would take them all a while to recover and for everything to go back to normal.

He couldn’t wait for that day.

Lakyn waded through the minefield of demonic ash and shattered glass to his daughter. She was surrounded by her friends and cousins as they celebrated the end of evil. He smiled as she looked up and met his gaze.

“Hey,” he said as he approached.

“Hey, Daddy.” Eden threw her arms around him. Lakyn held his daughter and relished in the fact that this type of intimacy from his daughter was rare, and he should enjoy it while it lasted.

“You did good, kid,” he told her. Eden stepped back and turned to Asher, who came up beside her and wrapped an arm around her middle.

  “I really did, didn’t I?” she laughed.

Lakyn chuckled. “Let’s get out of here.”

  Epilogue

  5 years later

After the destruction of the demons along with Abraham and Jazmine’s souls, things returned to normal. The demons were gone, and the world was restored to its former glory. Eden and Asher finished their schooling and got married on Eden’s twenty-first birthday.

She had worn a black tulle gown and had dark purple tulips in her bouquet. Their wedding was held in the garden of the Sanctuary where they had met with all their family and friends in attendance.

One year later, they moved to Melbourne, Australia. Eden wanted desperately to go back to the place that felt like home.

A few months after they were settled into the Abbey in which Eden was raised, they discovered they were expecting their first baby. Baby Ebony was born around seven months later. Eden and Asher wanted Ebony to have a normal, protected childhood. When Ebony was old enough to walk, Eden and Asher led their daughter through the maze they had built, a replica of the one in London, and told her all about their world—minus the demons. There would be plenty of time for that when Ebony went to an Academy herself. As they sat on the bench under the ancient elm tree, planted by Asher, with two-year-old Ebony bouncing on Asher’s knee, they discussed their future.

“What do you think Ebby will be like when she’s older?” said Eden.

“I think she’ll be beautiful, headstrong, and brave. Just like her mother.” Ebony squealed and flailed her little arms and legs. Asher set her on the pebbled ground, and she toddled off toward the opposite side of the small grove in the centre of the maze. Eden watched in curiosity and a little bit of fear as her daughter reached out and touched a wilted flower amongst the hedges. A bright white light grew around her. Eden gasped and ran to her daughter and scooped her up.

“What was that, Ash?” she asked, looking at her husband in fear. But Asher’s eyes were trained on his daughter.

  “Look.”

When Eden looked down at her daughter in her arms, she saw that she held a flower in her hands. She knew that the flower was once wilted and not far from death. But when she studied the flower now, she saw that the little gardenia bloom was alive. Its petals were clean and white and open. Eden laughed happily and kissed her daughter’s head.

“I believe our little girl’s already showing signs of a trait.”

When Gabe and Melody graduated, they decided to move into one of his parent’s properties in Rome, handed to him in their wills. It was ruled that Gabe have access to any funds or real estate Adam and Veronica had accumulated since they were never to be released from the Realm of Light prison due to the extent of their crimes. Gabe had wanted to be close to his family, and Melody decided that Rome was her favourite place on earth. Gabe proposed to her by the Trevi Fountain on Melody’s twenty-third human birthday.

When Max left Michael Academy, he returned to the job he loved—being the caretaker of the souls. He cared for them, and soon, they gained his trust. He purified the bad ones and nurtured the good ones. He took pride in his work and soon became the most caring Angel of Night in history. Max had adopted the new name—Angel of Night in place of Angel of Death. He thought the former title sounded too morbid and didn’t suit the new brand he wanted to create. And the burning part of his vision? That was just the change taking over his body. Normal Nephilim develop their traits and get their wings around the age of twenty-one. But because Max was special, he grew up fast and received his trait early, the vision he had of him lying on the ground in pain was just him receiving his wings. Nothing more. Dreams and visions have a way of distorting the truth.

Max had wanted to change history and create a better world. A place for human and angel-kind to grow up and prosper. Throughout their long immortal lives, Aria and Max remained good friends and visited each other often. As for love, Max never found his soul mate. But continued to be dedicated to his work for the rest of his existence.
